Looking for a "Fabulous Deal" on a "Truly Spectacular" Trip Later This Month?

Question from reader CathyB0820:

"Hi Wendy, I am a devout follower of your postings and thought you might have just the answer I am looking for. Do you have any advice on great places to go and fabulous deals at the end of October? I am looking for something truly spectacular for about 9 days total (including travel from California). Additionally, do you have any recommendations for great places to find business/first-class airfare sales? Thank you so much for any advice/guidance you can provide."

What about the islands of French Polynesia?  I don't think anyone will disagree that they qualify as "truly spectacular," and there are some "fabulous deals" right now. I contacted the French Polynesia specialist on my annual list of top travel specialists, Kleon Howe of The Art of Travel, and his suggestion for a 9-day/9-night trip is to spend 3 nights on the island of Moorea, then 5 nights in an overwater bungalow on Bora Bora. Here's a possible itinerary, courtesy of Kleon:

Let's just say you were to take the redeye flight from Los Angeles to Papeete, Tahiti, on the night of October 18, connecting to a flight to Moorea on the morning of the 19th. On Moorea, you could spend 3 nights at the Moorea Sofitel Ia Ora Resort in a Deluxe Garden Bungalow, taking advantage of the hotel's third-night-free special, with daily breakfast and airport transfers included. Then make the quick hop to Bora Bora and stay 5 nights at the Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach Resort in an Overwater Bungalow, with daily breakfast included; again, you get 1 night free because of the third-night-free special. Then on October 27 you'd fly back to Papeete and to Los Angeles.

Cathy, could you extend your trip to a total of 10 nights? If so, you could stay 6 nights on Bora Bora rather than 5 and get the 6th night free (since the deal gives you 6 nights for the price of 4).

You'll find more details, including the cost of this 9-day adventure, after the jump.

Win A Free Trip To Tahiti

Air_tahiti_nui_contest_3 by Wendy Perrin

I just entered Air Tahiti Nui's 10th-anniversary contest. Seems each week the airline will be giving away 2 free tickets to Tahiti and 2 free nights at Le Meridien Tahiti. Cool.
